Vintage Maryland Memories

On the way to Antietam, we had a chance to stop at the Beaver Creek Antique Shop on the old National Highway. The displays were beautiful and I thought it would be fun to share some of them. I've found that it's fun to "shop" with my camera...that way I can bring home all kinds inspiration without having to buy everything.
I liked these old cake tins...I have never seen white ones...they are more typically seen in green or red.

On these shelves, there was a mix of seashells, white pottery, silver and linens...

along with faded white twine and doilies.

Who doesn't love white McCoy pottery?

Garden roosters were displayed with a vintage stuffed cat...near a drying rack filled with vintage linens.

The sun finally came out by the time we reached the Antietam National Battlefield. It was a peaceful and beautiful place...but also very sad. More Americans were killed in a single day on the farmlands of  Antietam than on any other day in American history. Here are a few scenes from Antietam...

Tomorrow we will load up the car...with our junkin' finds and happy memories...and begin the trip North. We plan to take our time and stop along the way. Our only deadline is to be home for Easter weekend with family. Who knows...we just might pass a few more flea markets along the way!
