Renninger's Flea Market Finds

Renninger's Flea Market in Adamstown,  PA is huge! The outside market opens every Sunday at 5:00 a.m., weather permitting. And there are over 300 more dealers inside. I wish we were all close enough to meet up here some Sunday for a  real-life junkin' extravaganza...wouldn't that be fun? In the meantime, here is a little taste of Renninger's for you to enjoy vicariously...
It was unseasonably cold this Sunday in Pennsylvania, and really windy. The outdoor dealers were all bundled up. In spite of the cold, there were still fresh flowers for sale at the entrance to the outdoor market
.
I loved this booth...lots of "fresh-picked" vintage items at really good prices. I bought all four of these dovetailed wooden drawers for $8.00.  I love the pulls  on them. My idea right now is to clean them up and use each of them as the base for some collage/altered art projects to hang on the wall. Or, I may click over to my favorite DIY blog, Mamie Jane's, and do something like this. I thought of Jane a lot at Renninger's as I looked through not one or two pieces,  but whole boxes of old keys, coat hooks, bits and baubles. There was enough at this market to keep Jane busy for years!

One man was selling boxes of old Easter chocolate molds from the nearby Hershey's chocolate factory. He explained that the company had gone to flexible plastic molds and he had bought  the old ones as a lot. Again, I kept thinking, "So what would Jane do with these?"

There were lots of tables like this..and everyone was ready to dicker.

Not just one or two vintage rolling pins at Renninger's...boxes and boxes of them!

As well as watch parts for collage...

and bins and bins  of vintage hardware.

There was vintage fabric to dig through...

...as well as signs of every kind. I loved the schoolgirl in this old bread advertisement...I think I once had the same dress (didn't we all?).

There were booths full of vintage doll clothes...

and Easter decorations.

And on the way back to the hotel, more beautiful scenery...

I can't wait to share photos of my "finds" with you when we get home...they are stuffed into the back of the car right now and not ready for their big reveal on the blog. In fact, I can't even remember everything I bought so unpacking it will be a bit like Christmas morning. I do know that somewhere in the trunk there is...a bag of old skeleton keys (12 for $10.00), a bag of old wire coat hooks ($.50 each), the four drawers, a great wooden berry-basket carrier (with the baskets) , a wire milk bottle carrier (with the bottles), some vintage aprons, tablecloths and napkins, a selection of early 1900's holiday postcards, and assorted collage hardware.

I have been reading and appreciating all of your comments the past few days...thanks to my laptop. I haven't had time to answer them all as we've been on the road so please bear with me (my DH would probably not appreciate me being on the computer every moment of our vacation :-)
Today we are in Maryland where we will visit Harper's Ferry and the Civil War site at Antietum.
But...I'm sure we'll pass a few antique shops along the way!

Cheryl

That place looks great! I still miss living on the east coast even after 30+ years. You've been doing a lot of driving, but seeing and enjoying great stuff.
