My favorite part of our trip so far was our side trip to Harper's Ferry, which is located in the mountains where two rivers, the Potomac and the Shanandoah, and three states (Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia) come together. It was at Harper's Ferry where John Brown made his stand against slavery, setting off a series of events leading to the Civil War. It is now a National Historic Park and has, thankfully, not been commercialized. Here are some photos taken at Harper's Ferry...
I loved seeing the dogwood at Harper's Ferry. Growing up in Connecticut, we had dogwood trees all along our driveway and they were beautiful when they bloomed each Spring. In southern Maine, where I live now, it is too cold for dogwood and I miss seeing them. The dogwood here has been in full bloom all week and is beautiful.
Today we are off on a day trip to Antietam. I'll keep my eyes open for vintage bargains along the way!

In NJ we had a dogwood tree in our backyard, but here in the Houston/Galveston area I'm afraid it's too hot and a dogwood would require a lot of TLC. I wish I could have one too.
Oh my gosh, I'm going crazy for those Shawnee miniatures! Pricey, but so sweet.
