Dollhouse Gardening

After our surprise snowstorm, gardening outdoors has been delayed here in Maine once again. What a snowy year this has been, even for us. Instead, I've had to content myself with some teeny tiny dollhouse landscaping. It was definitely past time to remove the little reindeer from the roof!

Here is the pink cottage all ready for Spring...

I finally finished the lace curtains and put out a little pink chair for guests.

The tiny watering can will come in handy for keeping the tiny pink flowers fresh.

The yellow Victorian got some greenery...plus a birdhouse and shiny new bicycle.

The New England Colonial is ready too. This was my very first dollhouse. I found it at a yard sale on Cape Cod when my children were small. It then sat in the attic for years before Nancy and I re-did it.

I added a tiny wheelbarrow full of yellow flowers for Spring.

The canoe is back out in front of the log cabin again...ready for a whole summer's worth of imaginary outdoor fun.

This house came from L.L. Bean one Christmas when our grandsons were little. There is a big box of indestructible wooden dollhouse furniture, people, and animals that all of the grandchildren have had fun playing with over the years. Unlike the other houses, this is the house kids can really have fun with. The little red tackle box on the porch says, "Gone Fishin'".

I think this is the house that would be the most fun to live in...

I still have to get to work on Nancy's unfinished blue house. Blue was her favorite color and I want to make this house special for her.
She loved hydrangeas so I think I'll make some tiny ones to "plant" in front. Nancy's "real" house had a picket fence all around it so that will be added here too. It may sound crazy but these little houses take almost as much time to decorate and maintain as the life-size ones do. It's fun, though, and always reminds me of happy days spent with my sister...what could be better?

A mix of snow and rain here, so at least it is not stcking much. Fine weather to work on the miniature houses. What a great way to try out themes and decorations before you make changes to the grown up house. (OK, that is really just an excuse to play.) We have only one here, made by a grandfather, but my eye is drawn to them at sales.

I have always wanted to do the whole doll house thing but as of yet I have no room for that hobby! I'm sure what ever you do to Nancy's house she would love it!

Oh, they are soooo cute! I've been looking for a doll house forever, but haven't found one that was in my budget, and small enough for me to have a place for it. I love your wonderful Spring additions. Thank you for linking these magical houses to Favorite Things. laurie
