Rubber Stamp Art

Do you ever begin to write a blog post with a topic in mind, only for the post to take off in a totally unexpected direction? As if the photographs you took for the post have minds of their own?

I planned to write a post entitled "Craft Room Organization, Part 2" and decided to start by describing how I store my ridiculously huge rather large collection of rubber stamps. I took lots of photos of the shelf I keep them in and some of the stamps themselves. When I loaded the photos onto the computer, I realized that the little rubber stamps are the stars of this post, not the organization of them.

Without ink pads, embossing powder or brushes, the stamps themselves are small works of art...

and each little vignette tells a story...

of good days and bad...

of hopeful times...

of lasting friendships...

and of the delights of early Spring.

They tell the tales of...
Nancy's Cancer journey...

and all the crafts we made together...

in her cottage by the sea.

Over our tea, we would talk of friends and family...

near...

and far.

The photo of the shelf now seems almost like an afterthought...
and the theme of organization has given way to the memories evoked by the stamps themselves.

Maybe I'll just save writing about organizing a craft room for another day...

My rubber stamps fill 30 or 40 drawers....and large background stamps are on a shelf, stacked too tightly to even see! (I see you have a rather rare image....the 'haiku' rabbit/hare!)

WoW! I just found a HUGE box of rubber stamps at our local GW and picked a few out that were rather pretty. I'm not a stamper (at the moment) but thought why not...you never know ;o)

I'm your newest follower! I look forward to peeking at your blog.

A very lovely post, Cheryl. And, yes, the same thing happens to me. The pictures often dictate to me the words to use to describe them.

Thanks for linking to the party. I'm always delighted to have you join me. ;)

Blessings,
