Craft Room Organizing ~ Part 1

Organizing my craft room is always a work in progress. Just when I think everything fits in perfectly, I see a blog that inspires me to try a new craft project, all the necessary supplies are dragged up the stairs, and the old organizational "plan" no longer works. Hey...we're busy women with lots of STUFF! Here's how I store some of my craft supplies...although things do get moved around quite often.

Lately I've been into collecting all sorts of mismatched jars at Goodwill, flea markets, Home Goods...even from my husband's garden shed when he doesn't notice...and using them to store craft supplies in. I like that I can see what's inside at a glance.

And I need lots of storage for decorating and craft magazines. These Mary Engelbreit ones were a gift from my sister, Nancy, who did her whole craft room in a M.E. theme.
The Pottery Barn magazine file is empty at the moment because all of my P.B. catalogues are down on the kitchen table where I have been pouring through them for some Spring decorating inspiration. But they'll move back to the craft room soon...

And then there are the old standby magazine files from IKEA...love that place for storage items. I only wish it wasn't on the other side of Boston for us...worth the trip a few times a year though. As if the magazines didn't multiply like rabbits in my craft room, there are also the books...

Mary's are here...

and so many more. I'll never run out of ideas!

And what hard-working craft room could be without one of these?

It seems that I've taken many more photos than I'll ever fit in one post about craft room organization so I will save the others for later posts. You'll have to check back for "more storage tips from a crazy crafter"! In the meantime, I thought I'd leave you with some of the words I live by while I'm crafting. The first is a Mary Engelbreit poster on my craft room wall...

and, finally, some words I stenciled above it...
I think that about says it all!

Hi, Cheryl. I just love your blog dedicated to your sister's sweet memory. Such a beautiful name. I have jars all over my craft space too. I love them. It is such a great way to display things. I've found some of my favorites at GW too. Just recycled some there!

You MUST also link this up with Cherry Chick's Mary Engelbreit party. (Mondays)
I seem to have a collection of jars as well, but yours look so much more organized than my hodgepodge. You inspire me to do some cleaning and strategic planning.
I look forward to seeing more.

Cheryl, I need you to come and organize me. ;-)
I don't have a craft room, but I do have a closet that needs organizing. I organize it, then it fills up again. Guess I need more space. LOL
Thanks for sharing all the fun ME things. ~ Sarah

You're right, we need to re-evaluate our craft spaces because supplies run amok, we've used all we're going to use from a certain kit, and we change what type of craft we're interested in.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
PS I snorted a loud laugh when I saw your beauty poster.
