Before & After: A Quick Fix

PROBLEM:  The flowers I so carefully planted in the Spring died while we were away on vacation and it's too late to replant before guests arrive for our family reunion.

BEFORE...planted in May...

Blooming in June and early July...

AFTER: Deader than a Doornail in late July.

With little time to spare, I decided to "shop the house" and try to see the planter in a new way. Here's what I came up with...
Now driftwood and shells replace the flowers for a quick fix...just in time for guests to arrive.
Sometimes I just need to remind myself to look at things not for what they are but for what they could be. Necessity is truly the mother of invention!

What other ideas might you have come up with?

That was a great solution. I wouldn't have thought of that. It's so hot here that everything is about to croak. I am about to use faux flowers. Well not really, but it's a thought. Hugs, Marty

Yes, necessity is indeed the mother of invention. And guess what? Those lovely additions to your flower box won't die in this sweltering heat! ;)

By the way, you should link this post to TTT. We all need to be reminded that the answer to our problems is often right in front of us.

Hugs,

Hi Cheryl!
I like the shells! You're quite resourceful! It was 103 today in central Arkansas with high humidity--really sweltering heat--the air feels thick and heavy!
Glad you stopped by and left a comment! I've enjoyed perusing your blog. My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer when she was 29 years old about 24 years ago. She was a physical therapist and just starting her career. They thought she developed it through the daily use of talcum powder in her undergarments. Apparently talc is an asbestos type material--makes one wonder why it is still so prevalent in cosmetics (eye shadow, etc.) if they know that! I know this must have been a difficult year for you--this blog is a wonderful tribute to your sister!
