Lobster and Love

Although "My Sister's Cottage" is inspired by the life of my sister, Nancy, I don't usually share many personal stories and photos here. Today I'm making an exception and inviting you to relive a special day with me...dedicated to Nancy. Here is your invitation:

“To Teach is to Touch A Life Forever.”
Nancy’s dedication to teaching and her love for children lives on!
You're Invited To
A fundraising event
To benefit the
Nancy Doty Tufts
Memorial Scholarship Fund
at Wells High School
June 5th, 2011
Kennebunkport, ME

Nancy's friends sponsored a Lobster Bake in Kennebunkport last Sunday and raised over $2000. to fund the scholarship that was created in her memory. I want to share some of the day through photos to thank them...and to give my blog friends "from away" a taste of life here in Maine.

We are so lucky that Nancy's friends live in such a beautiful place...who wouldn't love a "back yard" like this?

It was an honor to meet Katie and her parents...she is graduating from Wells High School and is the  recipient of the first annual scholarship in Nancy's name.

Nancy had so many amazing friends...

and sisters.

Here's how we "do lobstah'" in Maine...

A toast to Nancy...with her favorite drink...Tab!

and a few difficult moments as we remember her together...

followed by the part of the day Nancy would have liked the most...

a little dancing and "air guitar"!

Who could this be???

The party is over for this year but everyone agreed to make it an annual event...so if you're in Kennebunkport on the first Sunday in June next year...you're invited to a Lobster Bake!

Thanks again to Betsy, Sted, Steven, Bebe, Phil, Donna, Eddie, Darin and everyone who made Nancy's day so special...she was blessed to have friends like you.

It couldn't have been a nicer day. Nancy was with us. Now on to the Relay for Life in Sebago on 6/25/11 to carry on the fight of the "Tuft Teal Warriors!"
