A Hull Pottery Find

I was a little early for my Weight Watchers meeting so I stopped at a nearby Consignment Shop for a few minutes to see what was new. Since I love vintage pottery, this little pitcher caught my eye. I collect McCoy pottery but this was Hull, which I don't know much about.  I liked the age and condition of the piece though and decided that, for $12.00, it should come home with me.

On the bottom, the pitcher is marked "Hull USA B29".

Among my antique books I had an older (1999) book about Hull pottery and pulled it out to see if I could find my little pitcher...

and there it was, shown in blue, on page 41.

I learned that my pitcher was made at the Hull factory in Crooksville, Ohio in about 1940. It was part of Hull's Nu-line Bak-Serve line. These utilitarian pieces were made in many colors, including yellow, pink, blue, aqua and my peach.

The biggest surprise was that my pitcher had a 1999 book value of  between $135.00 and 175.00!

When I started this post I was inspired by Junker Newbie's  "Would you Buy It Wednesday" party, but I already know that I would buy my little pitcher again. Not only was it a great deal, but I love how it looks in my living room filled with dried roses. Don't you just love a bargain?
